Nurseline is your 24/7 Option for Care

2/2/2022

Health concerns don’t always follow a 9-to-5 schedule. If you or your child had a high fever and started feeling stomach pain in the middle of the night, would you know what to do? Do you know where you would go for care? If not, don’t worry.

Your HealthSelectSM medical plan, including Consumer Directed HealthSelectSM, gives you and your covered dependents access to a nurse to help you decide what your next steps should be – 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays, at no cost to you.

When you call the 24/7 Nurseline, you get connected with a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) registered nurse who can answer your health questions and help you decide on your best option for care.

For example, if you become ill in the middle of the night, you may think you need to go to the ER. Before you do, however, call 24/7 Nurseline. You may find out that you can wait until the next day to see your in-network primary care provider; the nurse might suggest you seek treatment through an online Virtual Visit or at an urgent care center. Any of these options saves you paying a higher cost for the same treatment at the ER.

Note: A nurse cannot diagnose or prescribe medications. However, you have the option for medical and mental health Virtual Visits if you need it, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These Virtual Visits can help you with needed medications. Learn more about Virtual Visits.
